Some leaders and experts from Chenzhou City studied the technology of producing spring bamboo shoots in winter in November in Anji County, Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province. Then they compiled practical teaching materials based on Chenzhou's conditions. Lianping Yao Nationality Township, which boasts 80,000 mu (about 5,333.33 hectares) bamboo resources, was selected as a pilot area for spring bamboo shoots production in winter.  

Lianping has built a 10 mu (about 0.67 hectares) base to conduct contrast study in an all-round way. The CPC Zixing Municipal Committee and the Zixiang Municipal People's Government allocated 50,000 yuan to this base. After two months' test, it has proved that Chenzhou is suitable for producing spring bamboo shoots in winter. The project will bring benefits for the city's prosperity and people's welfare.  
      
 

At present, the Chenzhou Association for Science and Technology is promoting Chenzhou's four cities into provincial key areas engaged in bamboo industry. Sixty-seven households have joined Lianping's Zixing Tongshun Cooperative, with the planting area covering 7,980 mu (532 hectares).
