It was reported that the bidding work for first phase of "Yanquan diversion project" was finished on November 16, 2015. Till then all the preparation work for the project was ready and it can be placed to construction.

As the national demonstration city of water ecological civilization, the State Water Conservancy Ministry and the State Finance Ministry approved the exclusive ecological item of Hunan province - "Yanquan diversion project" which was with total 30million yuan investments. According to the plan, it would be mainly used to divert the water of Jiangyuan Water Reservoir to Xianling Water Reservoir, and then divert to Yanquan River by the arterial channel of Xianling Water Reservoir. The project would focus on the consolidation and reconstruction of irrigation channel of Jiangyuan Water Reservoir and some other new construction work. Once the project started, it would play the best advantages of Chenjiang river's water resources and upgrade local people's living condition.
