City Charity Federation Starts "2017 Charity Poverty Alleviation Million Sight Rehabilitating Project"

On the morning of March 26, the "2017 Charity Poverty Alleviation Million Sight Rehabilitating Project" jointly launched by the City Charity Federation, Municipal Health and Family Planning Commission, City Poverty Alleviation Office, Municipal Human Resource & Social Security Bureau and the city DPF officially started.

 

In 2017, Chenzhou Charity Federation and Hunan Eye Health Commonweal Foundations raised 800 thousand yuan and performed free cataract operation for more than 2,000 urban and rural poor patients meeting the conditions. It is the charity sunshine activities for patients suffering from eye disease, is also an important project for charity targeted poverty alleviation.

 

The senile cataract and pterygium eye disease are common eye diseases for elderly, seriously affect the vision and even blindness, and bring great mental stress and pain to patients. Especially patients from poor families, cannot get timely treatment due to various reasons, long-term living in the darkness. They look forward to seeing the light again and seeing the beautiful world again.

 

Since the start of the project in 2014, to 2017 the total expenditure of charitable funds has reached to 2.81 million yuan and has performed the free cataract operation for more than 6,000 poor patients suffering from cataract and pterygium diseases. These activities have been welcomed and praised by the poor patients, and had a good effect in the community.

 

At the launching ceremony, Hunan Eye Health Commonweal Foundations donated 550,000 yuan as the project fund; the president of City Charity Federation Yi Peikang awarded the honorary certificate to Hunan Eye Health Commonweal Foundations.

The former Deputy Director of Municipal People's Congress Standing Committee and the Executive Vice President of City Charity Federation, Dou Xiangyan participated in the launching ceremony.
