On August 6, 2017 Hunan Mass Mountaineering Competition was held in the Luoxian Garden of Beihu District. More than 1,200 people in whole city participated in the mountaineering activities in the great heat.

The event was hosted by Hunan Social Sports Guidance Service Center, Hunan Mountaineering Association, and Chenzhou Bureau of Culture Broadcasting Television Press and Publication, and undertook by Beihu People's Government, Chenzhou National Fitness Service Center, and Chenzhou Mountaineering Association. August 8 is the National Fitness Day every year and this year is the 9th "National Fitness Day" with the theme of "fitness every day, celebrating the 19th CPC National Congress".

The competition sets the male and female professional group and the mass group, of which the professional group is 8 km long, taking the top 20; the mass group is 5 km long, along with treasure hunt activities.

Vice Chairman of Municipal CPPCC Wang Dong announced the opening of the competition.
