Recently, the reporter was informed from the Forestry Bureau of Beihu District that the Chaotian Sand Garden project with investment of 500,000 yuan has been completed and more than 300 green peach and trees, camphor trees and 600 square meters of short pampasgrass have been successfully transplanted in the garden.

In recent years, Beihu District has put the "Ecological Beihu" construction in a prominent position, insisted on improving the quality of forest ecological landscape as the main line, focused on tending, management and protection, greening and improving quality, and built the city into a big forest by vigorously promoting urban and rural greening construction, so that the citizens can "see the green when open the window".

In addition, the county has invested 10.08 million yuan to actively promote the trial work of returning farmland to forests and wetland in the Sanhe and Wushan Village along the West River.

The 180 mu of Orah planting, 176 mu of natural and constructed wetland restoration and reconstruction, and 60 mu of high-quality greening project in the Wushan Village, and 100mu of sand field consolidation project and degraded West River wetland ecosystem restoration and reconstruction project in the Sanhe Village have been completed through planting the lotus, calamus, canna, villarisa nymphaeoides, artemisia japonica, needle spikesedge herb and other native vegetation.

According to Yang Min, Station Director of the Yantian Lake Wetland Management Station, the implementation and promotion of the project will effectively improve the water pollution situation in the rural area along the West River to make the purified water quality up to the national standard of class III-IV of surface water, and guarantee the water safety in the lower reaches of the West River and the upstream of Xiangjiang River. As of now, the task of returning farmland to forests and wetland in Beihu District has been completed 92.90%.

At the same time, Beihu District has also promoted the construction of "ecological Beihu" by vigorously implementing 5 major ecological system protection and rehabilitation projects of the tree planting, forest ecological landscape improvement, West River wetland construction and Changjiang (Zhujiang) River protection forest. Since 2013, the district has invested nearly 380 million yuan to complete the construction of 52,800 mu of barren mountains and wasteland forestation, 6 green demonstration towns and 27 green demonstration villages; the comprehensive ecological management, green ecological shelters and 828 mu of landscape improvement of West River. After comprehensive management, the West River Wetland was successfully included in the National Wetland Park pilot project.

According to the introduction of Liu Zuxin, Chief of Forestry Comprehensive Law Enforcement Team of Beihu District Forestry Bureau, Beihu District developed forest production industry in accordance with local conditions and accelerates the development of forest ecotourism in recent years. There have been 2 tea oil bases of Bixiangyuan in Lutang Town and Weizhiding in Huatang Town with more than 1000 mu, and 2 scale forestry leading enterprises of Huading Grain and Oil, and Yulin Furniture with annual output value of more than 10 million yuan. In November of this year, the forest products of Yulin Furniture, Jiali Wood and Fengshang Apiculture were selected from more than 2,000 exhibitors to win the gold medals at the 4th Furniture Expo and First Forestry Expo held in Liuyang City.
