Recently, the construction project of Hangxi River Estuary Wetland in Zixing City has been successfully completed and passed the acceptance, an artificial wetland ecosystem with both ecological benefits and landscape value adding in the city.
Hangxi River Estuary Wetland is located in Hangxi Village, Xingning Town, Zixing City, adjacent to the provincial highway S322 line, which is a key project in Hunan Province and one of the sub-projects of the Dongjiang Lake Ecological Environment Protection Project. The project covers an area of 800 mu, the total investment of 18.9621 million yuan, which started in November 2016 and completed the acceptance by the end of December 2017, including 4 parts of ecological restoration, conservation, buffering and exhibition area. The project carries out the treatment of decaying zone, ecological slope protection, the restoration of bird habitat and fish bait farm, and the construction of wetland habitat and wetland education facilities through the implementation of wetland and riparian buffer zone wetland restoration around the entrance of the lake.

According to the introduction, the construction of the wetland can not only purify the water quality of the lake, reduce soil erosion effectively, but also improve the ecological environment of the lakeside, which is of great significance for the protection of the Dongjiang Lake. At the same time, the wetland, as a new landscape of Dongjiang Lake will promote the development of surrounding rural leisure tourism and inject a new impetus for the development of Zixing global tourism.

In recent years, Zixing City has actively raised 1.6 billion yuan of Dongjiang Lake protection fund, and implemented the key project of ecological environment protection of Dongjiang Lake in Hunan Province, including 42 subprojects of "one lake one policy project" in Zixing City and Dongjiang Lake ecological environment protection and comprehensive utilization project with ADB loan . The city has took the construction of the ecological environmental protection project of the Dongjiang Lake as a key project of the government, established a strong project promotion mechanism, and a standardized and transparent project management mechanism, raised construction funds, speed up the project construction and established a long-term operating mechanism to effectively ensure the Dongjiang Lake water quality stability in the surface water class I standards.

By the end of December 2017, the total investment of the Dongjiang Lake ecological environment protection project in Zixing City was 1.104 billion yuan. The 39 subprojects of the "one lake one policy project" have been completed, and the Huangcao Lake Wetland, Xingning River Estuary Wetland and other 3 constructed projects can also be completed before the Spring Festival in 2018.
