Recently, the author learned from the preparation and schedule meeting of first Linwu Valuable Jade Ornamental Stones Expo that the 6th China (Hunan) International Mineral Gem Show (CMGS) will be held in Chenzhou from May 18th to 22nd, 2018. It will be the first time to set up a branch venue in Linwu County and the first Linwu Valuable Jade Ornamental Stone Expo will be held to fully demonstrate the unique charm of Linwu gemstones.

Linwu County is rich in mineral and gemstone resources and has more than 50 kinds of nonferrous mineral deposits with proven reserves, known as "Hometown of Nonferrous Metals", "Hometown of Jades" and "Mineral Crystal City", which owns the "national treasure" of hsianghualite and has the jade resources such as "Tongtian jade" (quartz jade), tremolite jade and so on. Linwu County is the only county found to produce jades in Hunan Province with large reserves of jade resources, wide distribution, many variety, high hardness, rich color, strong carving, etc. There are also fluorite, calcite, crystal, ice continent stone, muscovite, topaz and other mineral crystals. According to conservative estimates, the potential exploitation of gemstone resources is worth hundreds of billions of yuan in China.

In 2015, Tongtian jade local standards were issued and implemented in Hunan Province, the first jade local standard in Hunan. In 2017, Tongtian Jade was included in the National Standard list of "Classification and Designation of Quartz Jade", marking Tongtian Jade officially entered the ranks of national precious jade. At the same time, the county also invested 1 billion yuan to construct the Gemstone Cultural Industry Park, which covers an area of more than 78,000 square meters, divided into two phases. The first phase of the project has been basically completed and put into operation and the second phase of the project will be completed and put into use in the first half of 2019. After completion, it will become the center of jewelry and jade production, processing, display, auction, sale and raw material trading in Chenzhou and Hunan and its surrounding areas.

The 6th CMGS Linwu branch venue and the first Linwu Valuable Jade Ornamental Stones Expo will be held in the Linwu Gemstone Cultural Industry Park with a planned exhibition area of 50,000 square meters and a total of 500 shops (booths), which will take "Creating a well-known brand, expanding exchanges and cooperation, promoting science and civilization" as the purpose, take the "Hometown of jade, mineral crystal city" as the theme, take the seminar on the culture of Tongtian jade as the platform, and invite the national, provincial and municipal departments, the national treasure jade stone collectors, museums and industry association leaders to hold the summit forums and carry out a series of geosciences popularization activities and Linwu gemstone exhibition and sales auction, etc., to promote the exchange of resources, science and technology and culture, and enhance the popularity and reputation of Linwu gemstones.
