On January 30th, Guidong County River Water Quality Remote Monitoring System was officially launched, becoming the first river water quality remote monitoring platform in Hunan Province.

"They're all HD cameras that can rotate 360 degrees and detect 200 meters in every direction." According to Bai Wenjun, Director of the County Hydrological and Water Resources Bureau, the contents captured by the cameras can be seen in real time on the monitoring and management platform or on the mobile APP.

It was understood that Guidong County has a total of 133 rivers and 23 reservoirs. In order to strengthen the water environment management, the county has implemented the river chief system in an all-round way, established the three-level river system in counties, townships and villages, clarified the duties and tasks of the river chiefs at all levels, and set up the corresponding river chief system offices to accept the social supervision. The county also has set up a set of perfect working mechanism of the county-level river chief conference program system, river chief system information communication system, river chief system supervision system, river chief system work assessment method, and river and lake supervision and inspection system, identified the list of leading units and related members, cleared the division of labor, implemented the work responsibilities and strengthened coordination and cooperation.

So far, 10 monitoring points have set up in the main rivers and reservoirs of the Oujiang River, Qijiang River, Quanjiang River and the Leili Reservoir, which can clearly see the basic information of water quality, water color, water quantity and so on in the sections of rivers and lakes through the monitoring camera, and also can find the violation and illegal acts. Once the abnormal situation is found, it can be published to the county river chief system scheduling group as soon as possible to promote the information sharing in the group and communicate the work arrangements immediately. On the basis of the civil air defense of "river chief system", the monitors in the channels and the combination of civil air defense and technology and prevention have strengthened the normal long-term management of the river channels and greatly reduced the amount of inspection work to make river chiefs at all levels accurately, timely and conveniently understand the basic information of river water quality, water quantity, etc., and make the water pollution problems be found in time and dealt with quickly, saving manpower and material resources, and greatly improving the working efficiency.
