The reporter learned from the Municipal Spring Festival Transportation Office that the city's passenger transport volume was expected to reach 5.9 million passengers during the Spring Festival transportation period, with the total passenger volume slightly down from last year, of which, 800,000 passengers by railway, 4.84 million passengers by road and 260,000 passengers by water.
At the first day of the Spring Festival travel rush, a total of 147,260 passengers were carried by railway, road and water orderly, no passengers stranded, of which 132,390 passengers by road and 10,800 passengers by railway.
From 00:00 on February 1st, the 2018 Spring Festival Trains Operation Chart was implemented. Qian Jinguo, Head of Chenzhou West Railway Station, said that 37 pairs of EMU temporary passenger train were scheduled to open, 93 trains to north and 91 trains down south, and the total number of opening lines will reach 184 trains, with a new record for the capacity of EMU during the Spring Festival travel rush. At the same time, for the peak passenger flow down south after the festival, the railway department will adopt the common speed trains with hard berth and hard seat carriages and the EMU to increase the passenger transport capacity supply effectively and fully meet passenger travel needs during Spring Festival.
On the road and waterway, it was expected that the pre-festival passenger flow would gradually increase from February 1st and reach to the peak on February 15th (New Year's Eve); the passenger flow peak after festival would occur around February 21st. At present, the transportation system preparations during Spring Festival in the whole city have been completed.
It was understood that the transportation department of the whole city will put 2360 line buses and 239 passenger ships during this Spring Festival travel rush, which has sufficient capacity to ensure the travel demand of citizens.
