Recently, nearly 1000 mu of spring tea plantations in Zixing City went into the picking period and nearby villagers were busy picking the first batch of tea this year as the tea-picking workers.

More than 500 villagers have been picking fresh leaves in the tea garden since 7 am at Jinjing Organic Tea Base in Huilongshan Yao Nationality Township, Zixing City. Spring tea generally refers to the first sprouting leaves of tea trees after overwintering. Because of the low temperature in spring, the fewer occurrences of diseases and insect pests, and the higher content of amino acid and protein, the spring tea is loved by many tea lovers. The Jinjing Organic Tea Base was expected to reach about 16,000 jin this year,

Picking spring tea must ensure that one leaf and one core must be kept intact. The skilled villagers can pick 8 jin of fresh leaves a day with a day income of nearly 200 yuan.

Zixing City has existing tea plantation of 81,000 mu, with an annual output of 2450 tons of tea, the annual output value of 130 million yuan. After Dongjiang Lake Tea was appraised in 2017, the sale price of tea increased by nearly 10% and the tea industry became the leading industry for local farmers to increase income and become rich.
