In recent years, in view of the current situation of more and more children indulging in mobile phones and internet, and desalinating reading, Beihu District has increased the investment in the construction of children's libraries and vigorously promoted children's reading. Children's libraries take the form of "Government-run and civil administration", that is the government is responsible for the renovation of the library, hardware facilities, books purchase and funding, and the full-time volunteers, professional volunteers and parent volunteers of Chunmiao Book House, a Public Welfare Organization are responsible for daily management and reading activities .
Beihu Children's Library, an area of 600 square meters, is divided into the picture books area, science popularization area, literature area, Chinese studies area, creative art area, parent-child interaction area, reading experience area and leisure living area with more than 30,000 children's books and more than 200 seats. Each kind of book in the library has four editions of picture book, graphics and text, bridge book and pure text, which can fully meet the reading needs of children in different ages.
Huang Fu, Director of the Beihu Children's Library, said that they can accurately grasp the reading interests of children in different ages through the "big data" of book borrowing and finally purchase the books through the reading feelings of thousands of volunteers and the opinions from the WeChat Public Number, WeChat Group and other ways. Children can apply for membership for free, and the parents volunteered for more than 18 hours a year and their children could borrow 6 books for free.
Taking the Beihu Children's Library as the "axis", the Beihu District popularized the model to the whole district, and invested more than 4 million yuan to build 5 campus branches, such as the City No.40 Primary School and the Second Kindergarten of the district, which set off the upsurge of children's reading.
Since May last year, more than 400 parent-child activities and parent-child reading parties have been held in the district, with more than 24000 participants. "This model works very well and is very popular with teachers and students, and we will build 6 more campus branches this year." Beihu District Education Bureau Director Huang Zhiping said.
