The Hunan Provincial Civilization Office announced a list of the civilized communities (residential areas, civilized window units, civilized scenic areas, civilized markets and civilized restaurant demonstration shops in Hunan Province in 2017. Zixing Dongjiang Lake Scenic Spot won the title of "civilized scenic area".

Dongjiang Lake Scenic Area, located in Zixing City, is a national 5A class scenic area, a national eco-tourism demonstration area, a national forest park, a national wetland park, and a national water conservancy scenic spot.

In recent years, Zixing City has carried out the strategy of "great tourism development", continuously improved the tourism infrastructure and civilized service quality education in Dongjiang Lake Scenic Area, strengthened the management level of Dongjiang Lake tourism, improved the service and reception level, vigorously promoted high-quality service and honest management, and guided and promoted tourism operators and tourism practitioners to enhance the awareness of civilized tourism, so that the quality and service level of tourism civilization have been improved and the tourist reception and total tourist revenue have been increasing.　　

At the same time, Zixing City has actively responded to the "civilized tourism" initiative and launched the civilized tourism voluntary service activities. Every holiday, many tourist volunteers take advantage of their vacation to launch a series of volunteer service activities in Dongjiang Lake Scenic Area to promote civilized tourism and carry forward the new trend of civilized tourism.

It was reported that in 2017, Dongjiang Lake Scenic Area received 709,100 tourists from home and abroad, an increase of 10.72%, and realized 62.4572 million yuan of ticket income, an increase of 20.77%. With zero casualties and no major service quality complaints, the scenic area has successfully realized the five unified targets of "safety, order, quality, efficiency and civilization".
