Recently, the reporter learned from Xiangnan Primary School that the school and Hunan Kunju Opera Troupe signed a cooperative school agreement in 2016, and the school became the heritage base of Hunan Kunju Opera Troupe, an intangible cultural heritage protection project in Hunan Province. The troupe sends 4 senior actors a week to the school to train students in the afternoon of Tuesday and Thursday. There are currently 800 students in the school.

In January 2017, the classic Kunqu Opera repertoire "The Garden", compiled by the Kunqu Opera Association of the school, won a gold medal at the Hunan Children's Opera Spring Festival Gala, jointly organized by the Hunan Provincial Cultural Department and Hunan TV. The actors and actresses were honored with the title of "Little Inheritors".
