Recently,Xie Qiyong, Vice President of the National Association of Language Theory and Teaching and Research and Professor of the College of Humanities, Hunan University of Science and Technology, led an expert group to our city for a week-long recording of Zixing dialect.

It was reported that the nationwide survey of Chinese dialects of Chinese Language Resources Conservation Project, launched in 2015, is another large-scale language and cultural conservation project organized by the government in the field of Chinese language and characters. Zixing investigation site was one of the 25 investigation sites in the third batch of Hunan Province in 2018. After many investigations, Xingning dialect was selected as the standard Zixing dialect. At present, the video recording is being carried out in the recording studio of Zixing No.1 Middle School.

"I am very happy to participate in this activity. This activity is to preserve our Zixing dialect and let our offsprings know our Zixing dialect in the future." said Huang Manxiang, the pronunciation representative of Zixing dialect.

This recording work will comprehensively collect the original dialect data of the local pronunciation representatives of Zixing City, such as elderly men, young men, elderly women, young women, local mandarin, local oral culture,etc. by means of written records, recording,camera, etc., and carry out the editing, sorting and filing for those original dialect data. Finally, the recorded audio and video data files will be stored digitally into the audio database of national and provincial language resources.

Xie Qiyong said: "at present, we have entered the final stage of filming, and then we have to carry out a strict inspection for this recording. There are a lot of technical requirements for clarity, posture, sound, and accuracy. After this examination, we should make up for the record, and strive to achieve the various technical targets required by the state, so that our Zixing Xingning dialect can be preserved in the most accurate and vivid manner. "
