According to the introduction, a pig farm in Wotuo Villiage, Jiahe County produces more than 2200 pigs every year, increasing the income of 11 poor households by more than 3500 yuan per household.

There were 28 poverty-stricken villages in Jiahe County with 18,309 people of 6,406 poor families. In recent years, in order to boost the income of poor households and get rid of poverty, the county has actively guided rural cultivators and established more than 130 characteristic industrial bases relying on the natural conditions in mountainous areas, such as the peacocks in Jiahe Fengyuan margin, loach in Xianjiang Village of Shiqiao Town, ostriches in Yunli Village of Guangfa Town and sunflowers in Guanyin Mountain of Puman Town. They have adopted the operation mode of the "company + poor households + bases" and integrated ecological cultivation, leisure and sightseeing, farming experience, popular science education, food and beverage services, driving more than 2,000 poor people to increase their income steadily.

Those characteristic industrial bases have become the financial depression. Hu Hongsheng, a graduate of animal husbandry and veterinary medicine from Hunan Agricultural University, partnered with the poor people to establish a cooperative for breeding rare birds and ostriches in Yunli Village, Guangfa Town, bringing considerable economic benefits. At present, the ostrich breeding base absorbs 50 poor villagers to work in the base, the per capita monthly wage of more than 1500 yuan. The village has also set up the pheasant and rabbit farms, becoming a famed characteristic breeding village.
