Chenzhou Green Development Comprehensive Index Ranks First in the Province

Recently, at the First China-Africa Urban Science Forum in Hunan and the Annual Meeting of the Hunan Research Association for Two-oriented Society and Urban Science held in Changsha City, the Hunan Research Association for Two-oriented Society and Urban Science and the Provincial New Urbanization Research Institute jointly issued the first comprehensive index of urban green development at prefecture level in Hunan. Chenzhou City ranked first in the province, and Changsha and Zhuzhou ranked second and third in the whole province respectively.

It was reported that the research and calculation of the composite index was officially launched in April 2017. At that time, the Provincial Department of Housing and Construction officially established the topic of "Evaluation Method and Index System Construction of Green Cities in Hunan Province". After undertaking this pioneering and important subject, the Provincial Research Association for Two-oriented Society and Urban Science has worked closely with a group of well-known experts, professors and doctorates from Hunan University, Hunan City College, Hunan University of Technology and Hunan Business College, and invited experts from other fields to conduct demonstration and evaluation, conduct extensive and in-depth research, and determine the comprehensive evaluation index system and its weight of the green development index of Hunan prefecture-level cities.

Professor Li Jianqi, Chairman of the Research Association for Two-oriented Society and Urban Science and President of Hunan City College, said in an interview that the publication of the first comprehensive green development index of prefecture-level cities in Hunan Province is of great significance, which reveals the current status and extent of green development of cities at all levels in Hunan Province scientifically, systematically and regularly; presents a clear goal system and action path for the future green development of 13 cities; provides a set of standardized technical data support and advanced calculation model guarantee for urban green development ideas, decision-making, planning, project construction, goal management, etc.
