Recently, the Forest Tourism Management Office of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration released 30 brand names of emerging forest tourism destinations at the National Forest Tourism Promotion Conference in 2018, including Dongjiang Lake National Wetland Park in Zixing City.

The 2018 National Forest Tourism Promotion Conference was held in Guangzhou City. At the meeting, the Forest Tourism Leading Group of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration issued a list of 30 "National Emerging Forest Tourism Destinations", among which Dongjiang Lake National Wetland Park is one of the two listed destinations in Hunan Province.

It was reported that Dongjiang Lake National Wetland Park is also a national scenic spot, the first batch of national eco-tourism demonstration areas, the national AAAAA-level tourism scenic spot, the National Forest Park and the National Water Conservancy Scenic Spot. It integrates the natural and cultural landscapes of mountains, rivers, stones, caves, islands and drifting with rich landscape resources and distinctive features.

Dongjiang Lake National Wetland Park has 81% forest coverage and 82.4% forest greening with abundant forest resources and is the most biodiversity-rich area in Hunan Province. There are 1246 species of seed plants, 17 species of national key protected wild plants in the park, 71 species of fish, 17 species of amphibians, 26 species of reptiles, 86 species of birds and 20 species of mammals. At the same time, the water quality of Dongjiang Lake National Wetland Park meets the second-class standard of national surface water environmental quality standard and the first-class standard of water quality of drinking water source. The annual overall level of air quality meets the first-class standard of national environmental air quality. The highest negative oxygen ion in the park is 93.7 thousand per cubic centimeter, which is known as the most dense negative oxygen ion scenic spot in the country, known as "natural oxygen bar".

In recent years, Zixing City has adhered to the principle of "developing in protection and protecting in development", relying on the abundant forest landscape and ecological environment of Dongjiang Lake Wetland Park, equipped with corresponding hardware facilities such as sightseeing, leisure and health preservation, and vigorously developed tourism, attracting tourists from all over the world. As of December 24, 2018, Dongjiang Lake Tourist Area has received 7.078 million domestic and foreign tourists in 2018, realizing tourism income of 4.624 billion yuan.
