Guiyang Chongling National Wetland Park

On January 4, the State Forestry and Grassland Administration announced the acceptance results of the National Wetland Park pilot project in 2018. It passed the national inspection successfully and was officially awarded the National Wetland Park after 5 years of establishment. The national inspection for wetland parks is the highest standard test and authoritative approval for the effectiveness of the protection and development of the pilot National Wetland Parks.

Guiyang Chongling National Wetland Park was approved by the State Forestry Administration and obtained the qualification of the pilot National Wetland Park construction in December 2013.

In recent years, Guiyang County has taken the pilot construction of Chongling National Wetland Park as a concrete action to implement ecological priority and green development, and further implement the development strategy of the Yangtze River Economic Zone, listing as the "No. 1 Project" for the construction of ecological civilization in the whole county, andlauched the project of protection and restoration in an all-round way.

The monitoring system has been built in Guiyang Chongling National Wetland Park , which closely monitors and protects wildlife, migratory birds and fish in the park.

In the specific implementation process, Guiyang County has adhered to the development idea of "comprehensive protection, scientific restoration, rational utilization and sustainable development" and optimized the ecological environment. In order to promote the improvement of water quality, Guiyang County has continued to invest more and more in the implementation of river chief system in an all-round way, has built 24.5 km sewage pipe network, weaved ecological agriculture protection network, livestock breeding protection network, industrial wastewater discharge protection network and rural environmental sanitation protection network, and carried out source water treatment. In the protection of forestry ecological environment, through delimiting the ecological red line and carrying out the ecological renovation, the county has classified all the forests around the Wetland Park into public welfare forests, forbidden indiscriminate cutting, planted 1200 mu of aquatic plants, planted more than 20,000 trees in the wetland restoration and reconstruction area, comprehensively initiated the implementation of wetland restoration and returning farmland to wetland project, and set up "two platforms" for science popularization, education and scientific research monitoring, so as to make the concept of ecological civilization construction deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. Guiyang County has invested 12 million yuan in infrastructure construction of Chongling National Wetland Park, established more than 1,100 square meters of wetland education center, set up 4 management stations, set up wetland natural schools and other social multi-channel science education carriers, carried out normal wetland publicity activities, and cooperated with WWF, Institute of Subtropical Agricultural Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Central South University of Forestry and Technology to carry out monitoring activities.

Tian Kun, an expert of the National Inspection Collection and professor of the National Highland Wetland Research Center, said.

After 5 years of pilot construction, the ecosystem of Chongling National Wetland Park in Guiyang has been increasingly stable and optimized, the water quality of the wetland has been greatly improved, the habitat of animals and plants has been significantly improved, and the species and quantity of wildlife have increased significantly. Cheng Liang, inspector of the Wetland Department of the State Forestry and Grass Bureau and expert of the National Inspection and Collection Group, gave a high appraisal: "Guiyang County has taken the protection and construction of the Chongling National Wetland Park as a vivid practice and carried out the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on strengthening ecological protection and building ecological civilization, and has achieved good results.
