Recently, "The White Paper of the Top 100 County Economy in Central China in 2018" was officially released. According to the White Paper, Zixing City ranked 53rd among the Top 100 County Economy in Central China.

It was reported that the White Paper was compiled by the "Saidi Consultant" County Economic Research Center of China Institute of Electronic and Information Industry Development under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, basing on a total of 489 county-level administrative divisions as study objects (including 90 county-level cities, 389 counties, 9 autonomous counties and 1 forest district) in 6 central provinces (including Shanxi Province, Henan Province, Anhui Province, Hubei Province, Hunan Province and Jiangxi Province), with the exception of municipal districts. Six provinces in Central China account for more than 80% of the total population of the region, more than 90% of the total area of the region, and more than half of the total regional GDP.

In line with the strategic layout of the 13th Five-Year Plan for Promoting the Central China, the White Paper has established an evaluation index system for the county economic development in the central region from the dimensions of economic scale, development level, investment intensity, innovation vitality, income level and consumption level, and comprehensively evaluated the top 100 counties in the Central China.

In 2018, Zixing City achieved a regional GDP of 36.5 billion yuan, an increase of 8%; investment in fixed assets increased by 11.5%; added value of large-scale industry increased by 7.5%; general public budget income hit 2.469 billion yuan, an increase of 7%; total retail sales of social consumer goods increased by 11.4%; per capita disposable income of all residents increased by 8%.

In recent years, Zixing City has taken high-quality development as the main line, vigorously implemented the strategy of "innovation leading and open rising"and "industry-led, all-round development". The city has steadily pushed forward the structural supply-side reform, highlighted industrial dominance, strengthened the construction of parks, promoted the leading force and hard power of county economy, and maintained a steady and sound economic and social development trend.
The city has regarded industrial investment as the top priority in expanding effective investment and carried out in-depth activities of "Year of Industrial Project Construction". A total of 75 key construction projects have been implemented throughout the year, with an investment of 8.6 billion yuan completed, including 37 key industrial projects. In November 2018, the city successfully hosted the first China Dongjiang Lake Green Data Valley Summit Forum and the second Big Data Business Promotion Conference. Shanghai EISOO, Shenzhen Yixin, Chenzhou Government Affairs Cloud and other 12 projects signed the contracts to enter into the Big Data Industrial Park in Dongjiang Lake, further showing the effect of "investment depression".

At the same time, Zixing City has made great efforts to cultivate new industries in the park and accelerate the development of big data, new materials and electronic information industries. The added value of strategic emerging industries and high-tech industries accounted for 45.1% and 46.5% of the added value of large-scale industries respectively. Last year, Zixing City was successfully approved as the first batch of innovative counties and cities in China.
