In 2018, Suxian District adhered to the top priority of development and promoted high-quality development. In the whole year, GDP reached 32.5 billion yuan (the same as expected below), an increase of 7.8% over the same period last year; the general public budget revenue reached 884 million yuan, an increase of 5.77%, and tax ratio increased by 5.75 %; the local fiscal revenue reached 599 million yuan, an increase of 1.76%, and tax ratio increased by 7.67%; the added value of scale industry was 17.5 billion yuan, an increase of 6.8%; the fixed assets investment increased by 11.5%; the total retail sales of social consumer goods was 13.15 billion yuan, an increase of 12%; the total value of foreign trade imports and exports was $450 million, an increased of 17.92%; the per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents was 34,862 yuan and 20,293 yuan, an increased of 8.4% and 8.1% respectively.

The district adhered to the supply-side structural reform as the main line, continuously promoted the optimization of the industrial structure of the whole district, and speed up the transformation and upgrading. The proportion of three main industries was adjusted to 4:59:37, and the proportion of tertiary industry increased by 0.7%. The total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery was 1.884 billion yuan, an increase of 4.7%; 7100 mu of high-standard farmland was built to achieve total grain output of 121,600 tons, purchase of 39,000 tons of tobacco leaves and tobacco tax revenue of 12.92 million yuan.; Xinxingyuan Green Vegetable Base successfully declared provincial demonstration base of high-quality vegetables. The total output value of 46 leading agricultural enterprises above the district level reached 5.4 billion yuan, an increase of 9.7%. 88 service industry enterprises above scale realized business income of 10.1 billion yuan in scale service industry, the consumption playing a significant role in stimulating the economy. 14 new industrial enterprises and 58 new and high-tech enterprises were added, and the added value of new and high-tech industries accounted for 30% of GDP. Gospell was selected as the third batch of green factories in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The district further promoted the activities of the "Year of Industrial Project Construction", with investment of 6.276 billion yuan in 61 key projects at or above the district level. The China Resources Electric Power Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Technology Upgrading and Gospell High Frequency Microwave Copper Clad Plate Production Line Projects were successfully completed, and Ruixiang Oil Depot, Chenzhou Changjuan, Jinke City and other key projects were promoted. They continued to promote the establishment of the "National Global Tourism Demonstration Zone", receiving 8.7918 million tourists throughout the year, with a total tourism income of 7.913 billion yuan, an increase of 20.58% and 25.09% respectively, which was successfully selected into the list of the most beautiful counties in China and the key counties of Hunan Province's high-quality tourism routes. With the vigorous development of rural e-commerce, 10 village-level E-commerce Benefit Farming Comprehensive Service Cooperatives were put into use, realizing 18.8 million orders of agricultural products online trading, with a turnover of 12.819 million yuan; 30 new family farms were added in the district, which was awarded the demonstration area of Hunan Province in 2017. Xifengdu Town was approved provincial modern agricultural demonstration park and successfully declared provincial demonstration town of integration development of primary, secondary and tertiary industries.
