Recently, 2019, the "2019 World Wetland Day Promotion Activity in China" was held in Haikou City. The White Paper on the Ecological Situation of China's International Important Wetlands was issued for the first time. Li Chunliang, Deputy Director of State Forestry and Grassland Administration, issued certificates of international important wetlands to 8 wetlands, including Hani Wetland in Jilin Province and wanghu Wetland in Hubei Province. At the same time, Hunan Guiyang Chongling Wetland Park and other 16 wetland parks which passed the acceptance in 2018 were awarded the licenses. So far, Hunan Guiyang Chongling National Wetland Park has become one of the National Wetland Parks officially licensed in China.

Wetlands, known as the "Kidney of the Earth", are the birthplace of urban civilization, which play a variety of functions, such as regulating climate, purifying water quality, flood control and disaster reduction. In December 2013, Guiyang Chongling National Wetland Park was listed as the National Wetland Park (pilot) by the State Forestry Administration. According to the general plan of the National Wetland Park, Guiyang County took various measures to strengthen the protection and restoration of wetlands in the wetland park and improve the service function of wetland ecosystem. In December 2018, the expert group of the Wetland Division of the State Forestry and Grass Bureau went deep into the Guiyang Chongling Wetland (pilot) for field inspection and acceptance. Guiyang Chongling National Wetland Park (pilot) met the requirements of the National Wetland Park and was unanimously recognized by the expert group.
