In recent years, under the correct leadership of the Central Committee, Hunan Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government, based on Chenzhou's location advantage as Hunan's "south gate" and the development positioning of "new growth pole", Chenzhou has carried out the general strategies of "Innovation Leading and Open Rising" and "Industry-leading and All-round Development", embraced Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area with the best ecological environment, attracted investors at home and abroad with the best business environment, and sped up the expansion and strengthening of Hunan's "Antarctica" to create Chenzhou brands. The city's economic operation has maintained a steady, progressive, steady and positive trend.

In 2018, the city's GDP reached 239.19 billion yuan, an increase of 8.3% in terms of comparable price; the investment in fixed assets increased by 10.9%; the actual utilization of foreign capital amounted to $1.905 billion, an increase of 11.2%, and the total import and export volume of foreign trade amounted to $4.72 billion, an increase of 21.5%; the quality of fiscal revenue increased significantly, with the annual total tax rate of 80.3% and the local fiscal revenue tax rate of 67.8%, an increase of 5.6% and 7.3% respectively, the best results in nearly ten years. In addition, our city has also been awarded "Top Ten Cities in Business Environment of Chinese Enterprises (Prefectural and Municipal Cases) in 2018". The Innovation Demonstration Zone of the National Sustainable Development Agenda has been declared to be approved by the State Council. The competitiveness of urban innovation has entered the Top 100 in China, and the comprehensive index of green development has ranked first in 13 cities of Hunan Province.
