Recently, the selection results of the "Beautiful Rivers and Lakes" organized by the Provincial River Chief Office have been announced. After four stages of competition, including campaign solicitation, campaign primary selection, network selection and expert evaluation, 30 beautiful rivers and lakes in the whole province won the final election, including three rivers and lakes in Chenzhou: Dongjiang Lake, Xihe River and Bianjiang River.

Dongjiang Lake in Zixing City is the main water source of Chenzhou-Zixing-Guizhou Urban Agglomeration, and is also the strategic water source of Hunan Province's "two-oriented" social construction and Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Urban Agglomeration. It is the only "six in one" scenic spot in our province that simultaneously has the National 5A-level Tourist Area, National Scenic Spot, National Eco-tourism Demonstration Area, National Forest Park, National Wetland Park and National Water Resources Scenic Spot. Dongjiang Lake is known as "a lake in the sky, with thousands of scenes", because it combines the meaningful mountains and the charm of water, and combines the beautiful scenes with the historical civilization. Zixing City has adhered to the principle of priority of ecological protection, taken various measures and implemented comprehensive measures to ensure that the water quality of Dongjiang Lake First-Class Reserve maintains the first-class national drinking water standard all the year round.

The Suxian section of the Xihe River Eco-Scenic Zone starts from Banwu Village, Xujiadong Town to Nanxiang Village, Xifengdu Town, with the length of about 20 km. There are dense forests on both sides of the clear river with well protected wildlife. The Bianjiang Scenic Area, located in Yongxing County, stretching for hundreds of miles, connects with the Dongjiang River and flows down the Leishui River, which is known as the "Little Lijiang River", with Danxia landforms all over the country. In April 2017, after the implementation of the "River Chief System" throughout the country, our city issued opinions on the implementation of the "River Chief System" in an all-round way. At the end of the year, we established a four-level river chief responsibility system in cities, counties, villages and towns, established office locations, selected personnel and guaranteed funds, and implemented them at the first level. The city had 3,173 River Chiefs, who actively carried out river patrol, and established a monitoring mechanism for normalized work to solve the found problems in time.

At the same time, our city promulgated the "Opinions on Establishing Joint Law Enforcement Mechanism of Chenzhou River Chief System", and formed 12 Joint Law Enforcement Groups to clean up and rectify the problems of river-related violations, and investigate and punish the river-related illegal acts. More than 5 million yuan was invested to build a river and lake management and protection information platform to improve the level of river and lake management informatization. A series of activities such as the river chief system implementation, the river patrol, the essay contest and the photo (micro-video) competition have been carried out to create an atmosphere of water protection with the participation of the whole people.
