Recently, He Jianxiang, Vice Mayor and Municipal River Chief of Bianjiang River, led Zhou Wen, Director of the Municipal Health Commission, Tang Guolin, Standing Committee of Yongxing County Committee, Minister of Propaganda and County River Chief of Bianjiang River, and other responsible comrades inspected the Bianjiang River in Yongxing County. He Jianxiang and her delegation paid special attention to inspecting the section from Shiping Sand Field to Sanshiji Dukou in Bianjiang River, and listened to the report on the development of river chief system in Yongxing County.

During the inspection, He Jianxiang pointed out the problems existing in the transshipment of domestic waste around the river, the supervision of cage culture, the reclamation of vegetable fields, the public health education and the protection of river embankments, handed over the tasks to the responsible persons on the spot, and rectified them within a time limit.

He Jianxiang emphasized that we should implement the river chief responsibility system at all levels, adhere to the problem-oriented approach and keep a close eye on the source of pollution; should set the target and implement the responsibility continuously in an all-round way; should rectify and implement the problems found in the river inspection.

First, we should improve the political standing, consciously enhance the consciousness of protecting the river course, simultaneously promote education and punishment in accordance with the law, strictly check and control the potential pollution hazards, make a list of the problems, specify the time limit for rectification, and assume responsibility to the people on duty. The responsible departments of cities, counties and townships should intensify the efforts of tracking, supervision and inspection to ensure that the problems found and handled are rectified in place. Second, we should strengthen the daily inspection of township (town) and village (community) river chief territorial areas, guide the residents around the river to develop civilized and hygienic living habits, strictly control the vegetable fields on both sides of the river to gradually eliminate the stock, and rectify the man-made garbage and water-blocking obstacles on both sides of the river in time to ensure that the river is clean and smooth. Third, we should ensure the coordinated development of industrial development and ecological protection, strictly implement the environmental protection and other relevant policies, crack down on illegal sand mining and other illegal activities, control the scale of cage aquaculture and other industries in rivers according to law, and strengthen supervision.
