From March 12 to 13, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage joined the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Construction and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Areas to investigate the problems in the protection and utilization of traditional villages (preferring reiteration to protection, preferring construction to culture, preferring rights to responsibilities, preferring projects to environmental protection, preferring superiors to public opinion, preferring long-term to short-term benefit, and preferring funds to substance).

Traditional villages bear the historical memory of the Chinese nation and the nostalgia of the children of all ethnic groups in China. At present, there are 6791 traditional villages in China, and 89 traditional villages and 4 famous historical and cultural villages in our city. On the 12th, a joint investigation team visited Guiyang Miaoxia Village, Yongxing Banliang Village, and Suxian Aoshang Village.

On the 13th, our city held a special survey and report on strengthening the protection of traditional villages, avoiding "constructive destruction" and protecting rural culture and characteristics. At the meeting, Song Xinchao, Head of the Joint Research Group and Deputy Director of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, affirmed the good experience and practices of the protection and utilization of traditional villages in our city. He pointed out that the Party committees and governments at all levels should fully understand the importance and urgency of traditional village protection, take responsibility and immediately rectify the existing problems of "disorderly building"l should establish a correct concept of protection and combine the protection and inheritance with rural construction, not only protect the traditional ancient villages, but also constantly improve the living environment of villagers; should make bold explorations according to local conditions, adhere to planning first and make democratic decisions, advocate one village and one policy, and maintain the integrity, authenticity and continuity of traditional villages.
