May 20 is the 20th World Metrology Day. The city's market supervision and management department has inspected the measuring instruments of some gas stations, fairs and supermarkets in the city.

Metrology can realize the unification of measurement units and ensure the accuracy and reliability of measurement values, which plays an extremely important role in people's production and life. Everywhere in life is related to measurement. According to reports, the theme of this year's World Metrology Day is "International System of Units (SI) - Fundamental Leap".

On the day of the event, the staff of the Municipal Market Supervision and Administration carried out metrological inspection at some gas stations in the urban area, mainly to check whether the refueling machine was compulsorily inspected according to law and whether there were cheating in measuring such as destroying the lead seal, altering or disassembling the metering control motherboard or chip. In agricultural markets and large supermarkets, inspectors random checked the accuracy of electronic scales and spring scales, bagged rice, noodles, packaged food, etc. They found that each business unit had a good awareness of the legal system of measurement, and no violations of measurement were found. However, there were some irregular markings of net weight of goods in individual supermarkets.

The relevant person in charge of the Municipal Market Supervision and Administration said that in daily life, water meters, electricity meters, gas meters and taximeters at home all belong to compulsory verification measuring instruments. In order to better safeguard the interests of consumers, our city's quality supervision department organizes large-scale joint law enforcement and inspection actions every year to standardize measurement behavior and ensure the rights and interests of consumers. Next, our city will also carry out activities such as metrology services into industrial parks and "Bright metrology into campus", provide diversified metrology consultation services for enterprises, and teach teachers and students about myopia prevention and optometry matching knowledge.
