Recently, "China's Most Beautiful County List" was officially released at the 9th National Forum on the Development of Ecotourism and Cultural Industry and the 2009 China's Most Beautiful County List Conference. 219 counties and municipalities nationwide were rated as "China's Most Beautiful County List in 2019", and Guidong County, Yizhang County and Suxian District of Chenzhou City were listed.

The core criteria of "the most beautiful": first, rich tourism resources, good ecological and cultural environment; second, visibility, reputation and local government's emphasis on tourism and ecological construction.

Guidong County, located in the southeast of Hunan Province, is the promulgation place of "Three Disciplines and Eight Attentions" and the first place of the Long March of the Red Army.

Yizhang County is Hunan's "South Gate", which connects with the first city of Guangdong Province. It is an old revolutionary county, a poverty alleviation county, an inter-provincial border county and a mountainous agricultural county.

Mangshan Mountain, the first primitive ecological mountain in China, is listed as the National Forest Parks, National Nature Reserves, the first batch of natural scenic spots in China and the eight scenic spots in Hunan Province. In 2008, it was rated as the national 4A-level scenic spot.

Suxian District is located in the southern part of Hunan Province, the upper reaches of Leishui River, and a tributary of the Xiangjiang River. There are 971,700 mu of forest land and 2286,600 cubic meters of standing trees in the whole region, known as the "Green Treasury". The tree species are mainly Chinese fir, pine, camphor, catalpa, shrub and bamboo, including 25 species of national key protected animals and 13 species of rare plants among 2000 species of animals and plants.
