Mangshan Reservoir Generating Units Officially Generates Electricity

2019-06-07

Recently, the second hydro-generating units of Mangshan Reservoir Power Station in Yizhang County has been successfully debugged and formally connected to the grid for power generation, which indicated that the two units of Mangshan Reservoir Power Station have successfully connected to the ChenDian International Grid and successfully realized full-load generation of 18,000 kilowatt units.

In the powerhouse behind Mangshan Reservoir Dam, two hydro-generating units operate smoothly at full load, providing continuous clean and high-quality energy for the country. Mangshan Reservoir Project, located in the upper reaches of Changle River, the second branch of Beijiang River in the Pearl River Basin, is a large (2) hydro-junction project with flood control and irrigation as its main purpose and comprehensive utilization of urban water supply and power generation, one of the 12 major PPP model pilot projects in China and the largest hydro-project in the source of the Pearl River. The maximum dam height of the reservoir is 101.3 meters and the normal storage water level is 395 meters, with the total reservoir capacity of 133 million cubic meters. The designed installed capacity of the power station is 18 thousand kilowatts, with the designed annual power generation capacity of 44 million kilowatt-hours.

The reservoir was officially sluiced and impounded on March 11 this year. It was originally planned to complete commissioning and grid-connected generation of the power station by the end of July. Due to the abundant rainfall, the reservoir was close to full in mid-May and the relevant conditions were well prepared. On May 18, the first hydro-generating unit of Mangshan Reservoir Power Station was successfully commissioned and connected to the grid, which was two months ahead of the original plan.
