Recently, the Forestry Bureau of Anren County invited Hunan Linmai Network Eco-technology Co., Ltd. to spray medicines to control Dendrolimus alternatus and Dendrolimus punctatus in Shantang Village and Pingshan Village of Longhai Town, , Huangtian Village, Yanxia Village and Putang Village of Pingei Township, Tianji Village of Huawang Township and other townships. 6 UAVs of the Dajiang Series were dispatched, spraying 900 kg of thiabendazole formulation medicine for 3600 mu of control area; 400 kg of avermectin and pyrethroid biological formulation pesticide for 1600 mu of control area.

From the forest defense station of Anren County Forestry Bureau, we know that last year, the county used UAVs to control pine caterpillars, and achieved good results. This year, UAVs were used to control forest pests for the second time. It was understood that a UAV with three people, each sortie operation for 6-8 minutes, each sortie operation for 20 mu according to the amount of spraying dosage, can prevent and control 500-600 mu a day in sunny weather and concentrated area, the one-time insecticidal rate of over 80-85 percent. Compared with manual control, the efficiency and quality of control operation are improved, the cost of prevention and control is greatly reduced, and the safety of personnel is guaranteed.

Zhang Bo, Director of the County Forestry Bureau, told the author that forest pests are non-smoking forest fires and a huge obstacle to forestry development and ecological construction. There are 348,500 mu of Pinus Massoniana forests and foreign pine forests in the county, accounting for 24.5 percent of the total forest area, a larger proportion in the forestry economy. According to the pest survey in 2018, more than 7000 mu of pine forests of 6 townships and 18 natural administrative villages in the county have been damaged by pests. In order to improve the level of forestry pest control and actively adapt to the new requirements of the new era, UAV flight control, as a new exploration, has been applied to forestry pest control in combination with practical application. Up to now, the Bureau has purchased 3 UAVs, selected 6 young backbones for training in batches and obtained flight licenses. In the next stage, personnel will be organized to conduct professional skills training and learning again, so that they can effectively grasp the operational knowledge of ground base station construction and flight programming in flight, so as to rebuild new achievements for future UAVs in forestry pest control in the county.
