Shuijinwo Waxberries

The members of Yizhang County Artists Association paint the pictures of a bumper harvest of waxberries on the spot.

On June 9, the 5th Shuijinwo Waxberry Festival in Yizhang County was held in Yiren Square.

At the opening ceremony, the singing and dancing "Long Drum of Yao Nationality", solo "Sunshine Road", interactive magic and other literary and artistic performances brought a good atmosphere for Waxberry Festival; the "Tasting Waxberries" Contest and "Waxberry King" Competition made everybody excited; the public could enjoy the waxberries in the free tasting area around the stage; members of Yizhang County Artists Association painted the pictures of a bumper harvest of waxberries on the spot.

Shuijinwo Village, located on a high mountain with an elevation of 600 meters, has a large temperature difference between day and night, with abundant mountain resources and fertile land, and is a natural treasure land for high-quality waxberry cultivation. Shuijinwo waxberry is very popular for its thick flesh, loose texture, juicy, small nucleus and sweet taste.

Since the early 1990s, Shuijinwo Village has devoted itself to the development of waxberry industry. After more than 20 years of efforts, the cultivation scale of waxberries in Shuijinwo Village has reached more than 12,000 mu, with the annual production of 15 million jin. At present, it is one of the largest waxberry cultivation bases in southern Hunan.
