The Xiangnan Red Art Memorial Museum, located in Liuhuawan Ancient Village, Sandu Town, Zixing City, was officially opened, which is the first red-themed art memorial museum in our city.

The museum is composed of 4 major parts, 14 chapters and more than 60 watercolor paintings with a total construction area of 13,000㎡, which focuses on the historical facts of the birthplaces of the Red Revolution such as Chenzhou, Liuhuawan in Zixing City, Yizhang and Rucheng. The works exhibited in the Art Memorial Museum display the flash points from the historical events such as the Jinggangshan Master, the Long March of the Red Army, the War of Resistance Against Japan and the War of Liberation, create images and historical atmosphere, show the folk customs and scenery, homeland customs, and integrate the landscape of southern Hunan into the painting, fully demonstrating the grand history from the origin of red footprints to the birth of New China. The paintings of Xiangnan Red Art Memorial Museum are all created by Li Chunxiang, Director of the Museum. He introduced that the most proud work of more than 60 watercolor works is "Older Proletarian Revolutionists Leaving Glorious Footprints on the Red Land of Southern Hunan", which hangs in the main entrance hall, 6 meters long and takes more than three months to paint. For this work, he visited many red cultural memorials in China and collected background information of 52 soldiers to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China.

Apart from its long history, profound cultural heritage and well-preserved ancient residential communities in southern Hunan, Liuhuawan Ancient Village in Sandu Town is also the cradle of the Red Revolution. The former site of the Soviet government in Liuhuawan Village is a key cultural relic protection unit at the provincial level. Ou Ruihua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Mayor of Sandu Town, Zixing City, said that the opening of the Xiangnan Red Art Memorial Museum was one of the five thematic activities of the 5th Dongjiang Lake Liuhuawan Lotus Festival in 2019. On the same day, the activities such as "Appreciating Lotus Scenery", "Tasting Lotus Delicacies" and "Opening Ceremony Literature and Art Exhibition of the 5th Dongjiang Lake Liuwanwan Lotus Festival" were also carried out to add vitality to the development of local red rural tourism.
