Recently, it was learned from Chenzhou Institute of Agricultural Sciences that 142S, a Dual-purpose Genic Male Sterile Line in rice, cultivated by rice research team for 7 years, participated in technical appraisal in Hefei, Anhui Province, and was unanimously approved by the expert group.

The appraisal meeting was organized by the office of the Crop Variety Approval Committee of Anhui Province, headed by Luo Zhixiang, Director of the Rice Institute of Anhui Province, and the experts from the Rice Institute of Anhui Province and the Agricultural University of Anhui Province were members of the expert group for sterility identification. In Hefei, Anhui Province, the expert group carried out technical identification on 142S, a Dual-purpose Genic Male Sterile Line in rice developed by Chenzhou Institute of Agricultural Sciences, investigated the population of the sterile line in the field, sampled and inspected the self pollination and pollen abortion of bagging.

At the appraisal meeting, the expert group listened to the report of the breeding personnel, consulted the relevant technical data, and inquired about the relevant issues in detail. After the full discussion of the expert group, it was concluded that the comprehensive characters of the sterile line 142S were better, the agronomic characters were uniform, the sterility was stable, the breeding indexes met the requirements of the examination and approval, and it was agreed to pass the appraisal. The 142S had strong combining ability, high yield, good quality and resistance, and had a good application prospect.
