At the recent annual meeting of China Ecological Civilization Forum, the Ministry of Ecological Environment awarded the third batch of 84 national ecological civilization construction demonstration cities and counties and the third batch of 23 "Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" practice and innovation bases. Wangcheng District of Changsha City, Lingling District of Yongzhou City, Taoyuan County and Shimen County of Changde City were selected as the national ecological civilization construction demonstration cities and counties; Zixing City was named as the "Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" practice and innovation base.

Since 2017, the selection of the national ecological civilization construction demonstration cities and counties has been organized, and strict indicators have been set in six aspects: ecological space, ecological economy, ecological environment, ecological life, ecological system and ecological culture, aiming to establish a benchmark model of ecological civilization construction through demonstration and creation activities, and provide replicable and popularized models for all parts of the country.

At present, there are 6 demonstration cities and counties of national ecological civilization construction in our province. Before that, Jianghua Yao Autonomous County and Wulingyuan District of Zhangjiajie City were awarded the first and second batch of national ecological civilization construction demonstration cities and counties respectively.

Zixing City was named "Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" practice and innovation base, which was the first time in our province. According to the requirements of the Ministry of Ecological Environment, the practice and innovation base should actively explore the effective way to transform lucid waters and lush mountains into invaluable assets, improve the supply level and guarantee ability of ecological products, innovate the system and mechanism for the realization of ecological value, and create a green, people-friendly and green shared brand.
