Promote Innovation & Development of Tea Industry in Chenzhou City

Rucheng Baimao Tea is a high-quality tea with local characteristics in Chenzhou. It is a rare and precious wild tea with large leaves and hairy. In order to further analyze the formation mechanism and ecological adaptability of Baimao Tea characteristics, explore and develop its rapid breeding technology, and do a good job in the protective development and utilization of local tea germplasm resources, in recent years, relying on the Chenzhou experimental station of Hunan tea industry system, tea researchers of Chenzhou Institute of Agricultural Sciences have carried out a series of collection and innovation work for Baimao Tea germplasm resources in Rucheng County and surrounding areas.

Tea researchers from Chenzhou Institute of Agricultural Sciences collected germplasm resources of Baimao Tea in Rucheng County.

 

Rucheng Baimao Tea is distributed in Jiulong Mountain Area and adjacent mountainous area of Sanjiangkou Yaozu Town in Rucheng County. In order to collect the germplasm resources of Baimao Tea, tea researchers braved the difficulties and obstacles, climbed mountains, drenched in rain and sweating all over, and brought back 45 precious germplasm resources.

 

"Although this season is not the best season for breeding tea seedlings, we still need to seize the opportunity to carefully collect and protect them, so as to lay a solid foundation for breaking through the rapid propagation technology of Baimao tea, and to contribute scientific and technological strength to the development of Baimao tea industry and provide scientific guidance." Zhou Linghong, head of the Tea Subject at Chenzhou Institute of Agricultural Sciences, said.
