On August 6, Chenzhou Medical Waste Disposal Center and Chenzhou Waste Incineration Plant were opened to the public for the first time. More than 20 citizens visited in an orderly manner under the premise of prevention and control of epidemic situation and safety protection.

Chenzhou Medical Waste Disposal Center, located in Xiangshanping Village, Bailutang Town, Suxian District, was put into operation in March 2010 with a daily treatment capacity of 15 tons of medical waste.

After wearing masks, the public lined up to see the photo exhibition to understand the medical waste treatment process, and then visited the waste treatment line through the protective glass.

"At present, dry chemical disinfection process is used to treat medical waste, which can be incinerated for power generation or landfilled after harmless treatment." Huang Zhaoyan, Deputy Director of Chenzhou Medical Waste Disposal Center, introduced to the public.

Chenzhou Waste Incineration Plant is located in Banzilou Village, Xujiadong Town, Suxian District. It is the only waste incineration power plant in the city. In July 2015, the plant officially incinerated waste for power generation, with daily treatment of more than 1200 tons of domestic waste.

The public first came to the central control room of waste treatment. More than 20 electronic display screens were placed in front of the room to monitor the waste transportation, incineration power generation, ash disposal and other links in real time.

The staff of the waste incineration plant continued to introduce: "the flue gas after incineration has been treated harmlessly and turned into clean gas and discharged into the sky, meeting the national emission standards."

At the end of the public open day, citizens from Chenzhou Branch of Xinhua Insurance donated more than 4000 heatstroke prevention items to the front-line workers of Chenzhou medical waste disposal center and Chenzhou waste incineration plant.

Cui Jianxin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Municipal Ecological and Environmental Bureau, the organizer of the public day, disclosed a message to the public: in order to let the citizens further understand and supervise the environmental protection work and enhance the awareness of environmental protection, four types of environmental protection facilities, including environmental monitoring, centralized disposal of hazardous wastes, urban sewage treatment and garbage treatment facilities, will be opened to the general public on a regular basis from this year.
