On November 26, the Asia Europe Urban Water Management Seminar and Hunan (Chenzhou) Water Resources Sustainable Utilization and Green Development Expo opened in Chenzhou. Vice Governor Zhu Zhongming, and Yi Pengfei, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress, attended and delivered speeches.

Tong Xudong, Secretary of the Party Group and Director of the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, presided over the opening ceremony. Liu Zhiren, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, delivered the keynote report on "Promoting Sustainable Development with Water as the Medium". The speeches were made by Leon Faber, Deputy Director General of the Asia Europe Foundation, Ke Bing, Deputy Director of the China Agenda 21 Management Center, Karoli Kovans, Chairman of the Hungarian water partner, and Cao Jianlin, Deputy Director of the Science, Education, Health and Sports Committee of the CPPCC National Committee Words.

The event was sponsored by the Provincial Science and Technology Department, Chenzhou Municipal Government and Asia Europe Foundation (ASEF). About 100 government officials, experts and scholars, and representatives of business circles from 15 ASEM members participated in the event. 14 experts from 12 countries presented wonderful research reports on the importance of government level action, economic development and awareness raising, and industrial R & D and innovation in the field of sustainable water management. The meeting deliberated on the "Implementation plan for the construction of public science and technology service platform for ecological protection of Dongting Lake in Hunan Province" and the "Construction and implementation plan of Chenzhou sub center of Asia Europe water resources research and utilization center". More than 150 enterprises at home and abroad have demonstrated the concrete achievements and technologies of "water protection, water control, water use and water saving" through the online Expo.

Zhu Zhongming pointed out that Hunan resolutely implemented the spirit of the Party in the fifth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee and the directive spirit of General Secretary's series of important speeches, and closely focused on the goal of building a new, rich and beautiful new Hunan, focusing on the water protection, water control, water use and water saving, and vigorously promoting the comprehensive management of Xiangjiang, Dongting Lake, Dongjiang Lake and other watersheds, and promoting the protection and restoration of lakes and grasses in the mountains and forests. We should seek new experiences and new models of sustainable utilization and green development of water resources, break through a number of key core technologies in the ecological field, especially in the field of water resources protection, and strive to create a new high-quality development path of "people-oriented, harmonious human and water, scientific layout and green development".

Zhu Zhongming stressed that we should adhere to sustainable development. Hunan will take the construction of Chenzhou sustainable development agenda innovation demonstration area as an opportunity, give full play to water advantages, make scientific use of water resources, do a good job in water resources, promote sustainable utilization and green development of water resources, and make development achievements more beneficial to the people.

We should strengthen scientific and technological exchanges. Hunan will continue to strengthen exchanges in science and technology, talents and information with Asian and European parties, promote joint research and transfer and transformation of scientific and technological achievements through cooperation projects, academic forums and exchange visits, so as to provide replicable and popularized Hunan practice for realizing sustainable development of water resources in similar regions of the country and the world. We should deepen pragmatic cooperation. Relying on the water resources protection platform of Hunan and other countries, Hunan will strengthen the scientific and technological innovation cooperation between Asia and Europe. It was hoped that Asian and European countries would give Hunan strong support in terms of projects, funds and management, so as to jointly protect the urban water ecological environment and benefit Asia and Europe and the world.
