A horse-racing activity was held in Yangtianhu Grassland, Chenzhou City, on May 16, attracting more than 100 participants from Hunan, Hubei and Guangdong provinces.

Yangtianhu Grassland enjoys a reputation of “the most beautiful high mountain grassland in south China”. It’s well known in south and central China for its unique high mountian grassland and horse-riding culture in south China. This activity includes archery competition, horse racing, marching and fighting.

“In 2020, after ecological restoration by Jinzhan Tourism Company, the grassland became more beautiful and attracted more tourists. Taking this as an opportunity, a tourist horse cooperative gathering farmers’ horses in Yangtian Lake Scenic Area, which allows every household to have a stable income,” the person in charge of the scenic area said that now, there are more than 300 horses for tourists to ride. Next, the scenic area will carry out various horse-riding activities to inherit national culture.

Yangtianhu Grassland is the southernmost high mountain grassland in China, known as the Hulunbeir Grassland in south China. With an average altitude of 1,314 meters, it has the longest grassy period in southern China, with a grassy period of up to seven months. With the annual temperature of 20℃ and fresh air, the scenic spot is a perfect place to avoid summer heat. In addition to riding a horse across the grassland, other tourist spots including pet paradise, Hobbit House and wind turbines in mist are all worth visiting.
