On May 27, Mr. Zhu showed a stone plaque engraved with a red song from his collection, which is another precious cultural relic witnessing the revolutionary history in Jinggang Mountains in Rucheng County.
This is a purple-red Qiyang stone, 76-cm long, 38-cm high, and 10-cm thick, framed with red lacquered wood. On top of it is a revolutionary song titled “Determined to Join the Red Army” carved by Liu Yizheng during the Republic of China.
In October 1927, after the Autumn Harvest Uprising, Mao Zedong led the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army to Jinggang Mountains, establishing the first rural revolutionary base. In 1928, Mao Zedong joined forces with Zhu De at the Jinggang Mountains Revolutionary Base to form the Fourth Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. They launched a crackdown on the despotic landowners to distribute their land to the poor peasants. The poor peasants who stood up and became masters of their own fates were ardently enrolled in the Red Army.
At that time, many revolutionary songs were created to mobilize the masses to join the army and fight against the landlords and the Kuomintang army. “This stone plaque was created during this special period. The 'Determined to Join the Red Army' engraved on it is the most representative song of the Jinggang Mountains Revolutionary Base,” said Mr. Zhu.
According to experts, this is the only well-preserved stone plaque inscribed with a red song found in the Jinggang Mountains Revolutionary Base so far, which is of significance for understanding revolutionary history, preserving cultural relics and appreciating calligraphy works.
