The total retail sales of social consumer goods in the county reached 5.16 billion yuan from January to May, up 26% year on year, leading the city of Chenzhou in the growth rate for five consecutive months, according to the Commerce Bureau Guiyang County.
At the commodity fair held in Guiyang Yunchuang E-commerce Cross-border Industrial Park, the exhibitors spared no effort to promote their products while citizens were busy selecting, tasting and buying commodities.
Holding commodity fairs in the park is an important measure for Guiyang County to promote the development of service enterprises and the real economy, and consumption upgrade. Based on the creation of brand, the county aims to expand domestic demands and market, which helps the consumer market maintain a strong momentum while developing private economy.
Special promotions on holidays have been one of the main activities to drive consumption in Guiyang County in recent years. Colorful shopping promotions like special offers, package sales, discounts and manufacturers direct sales are provided by shopping malls and supermarkets on festivals such as the Spring Festival and the Dragon Boat Festival, stimulating consumption and boosting the holiday market of the county. Non-contact consumption modes like shopping through WeChat groups and applets have been widely popular adopted, which helped large supermarkets increase online sales. Such online promotion activities as the New Year’s Shopping Festival have achieved 250,000 online orders with a turnover of 2.65 million yuan and received more than 5.8 million times hits.
The major shopping malls like Baolan Square offered different kinds of promotions for citizens during the Dragon Boat Festival.
“A few years ago, there were few options for us to do shopping in the county. We even had to wait in a long queue for payment in the supermarkets like Better Life on festivals and holidays,” said a citizen.
At present, there are some large commercial malls like Baolan Square and Plaza One in the business circle of the north county, where the world-renowned enterprises such as Lotus Supermarket have settled one after another. A common prosperity has been formed in Guiyang's business circle, instead of the booming of a single retailer in the old downtown.
"The shopping environment in the downtown area of Guiyang has undergone tremendous changes. Citizens benefit a lot from the fierce competition when more and more enterprises settle in the county. It becomes more convenient for citizens to go shopping, with low cost of traffic,” said Luo Bangfu, director of Guiyang Commerce Bureau.
