Surrounded by mountains, Yingdong Area of Wenming Yao Township is a typical remote mountainous area, with high mountains, dense forests and little farmland. Therefore, the local government adjusted the industrial structure according to local conditions, provided preferential policies such as industrial rewards, subsidies and small financial loans.
At the same time, 15 professional cooperatives have been supported and developed, and 29 processing plants of honeysuckles have been established, which provided one-stop services of production, supply and sales for farmers. Now, Yingdong Area has more than 20,000 mu (1,333.3 hectares) of honeysuckles, and all farmers at home have planted it.
Located in the place where the “Half Quilt” story took place, Wenming Yao Township continues to carry out various activities such as night talks and bench meetings, so as to get to know people’s worries and help them solve problems.
Starting from 2017, the rural Party members and cadres have helped villagers pick them when honeysuckles are in blossom.
With the help of the local government and cadres, villagers have increased their income via honeysuckle industry. Now, more than 600 tons of honeysuckles have been picked in Yingdong Area with 500 tons of them processed and sold, which increased the per capita income by nearly 10,000 yuan.
