Hunan province launched a level IV emergency response for flood control on July 1, according to Hunan Provincial Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters.

All 14 municipalities and prefectures in Hunan province are key areas for flood control and disaster relief. Local authorities were urged to strengthen defense against flash floods and geological disasters, guard reservoirs, prevent floods in small and medium-sized rivers, and drain low-lying areas in towns and rural areas to ensure the safety of people and projects.
