Ouyang Hai spirits inspire local people
Ouyang Hai, who gave his life to save a train on November 18, 1963, is the immortal spiritual monument of Guiyang County, and the former residence of Ouyang Hai is the most shining revolutionary attraction in Guiyang.
You can feel that Ouyang Hai Spirit has been deeply integrated into the life of Guiyang people in such places as Ouyang Hai Square, Ouyanghai Town and Ouyanghai Village.
“After renovation, a continuous stream of visitors came to the former residence of Ouyang Hai.” A guide called Chen Longhua said that the former residence has been renovated by the local government twice. Ouyang Hai Exhibition Hall and Ouyang Hai Education and Training Base were built simultaneously. A tourist reception center of Ouyang Hai’s Former Residence was built this year.
Today, the former residence of Ouyang Hai with a well-quipped multi-functional room, a spacious and bright tourist reception hall, and a clean and comfortable homestay inn make it become an important place for Party members and cadres, and teenagers to carry out Party education and learning.
“In the past, young people in Ouyanghai Village chose to work outside, while the elderly grew rice, tobacco, ginger and other crops in the village. The village had weak economic foundation with little development impetus.” Zhou Yabin, Party secretary of Ouyanghai Town, said that driven by the revolution-themed tourism of Ouyang Hai’s Former Residence, agritainments and homestay inns have been opened in the village, driving the development of surrounding tourist attractions like Sizhou Mountain, Fucang Mountain and Zhennan Academy. The village has vigorously developed Red tourism resources and ecotourism to promote the industrial development.
Guiyang is a popular revolutionary land with glorious revolutionary traditions. Over the past 100 years, revolutionary martyrs and heroes such as Deng Huatang, Deng Sanxiong and Ouyang Hai who were born here dedicated themselves to the country and the people.
Guiyang puts a high value on excavating, protecting and developing Red tourism resources. Such revolutionary bases as Ouyang Hai Patriotism Education Base and a Party spirit education and training base were built. It has made full use of Red cultural resources in Guiyang and carried out various activities to pass on revolutionary spirits.
A series of revolution-themed education and practice activities were held.
Yesu Lishan Station of civilization practice in the new era was built in Lijia natural village on June 28, which has made a major leap forward to the construction of Lishan Long March Cultural Park. The characteristic experience projects in the museum attract many tourists.
Wang Jinfeng, the head of the park, said that they plan to build Lijia natural village into a red tourism village. They now signed an agreement with 22 villagers to turn their houses into red homestay inns.
Guiyang closely combines the inheritance of red culture with the development of economy and society, creates a red culture route covering all red scenic spots, and promotes the integrated development of culture, agriculture, study and business tours.
Green concept promotes high quality development
In recent years, Guiyang has attracted much attention with its beautiful ecology. It was rated as national garden city, Chongling national wetland park was recognized by the country and Baoshan national mining park was the only provincial mining ecological civilization education base in Hunan.
Guiyang is abundant in mineral resources, and was once a place for officials to smelt and cast silver. Like all cities prospered by mining, while bringing wealth, the mining industry also caused environmental problems.
Over the years, Guiyang has continued to carry out a series of actions to improve ecological and environmental protection.
Guiyang invested a total of 200 million yuan in ecological restoration of Baoling. The abandoned mine mountains are covered with forests now. The waste mining roadway has become a modern industrial and mining cultural tourism base, and Baoshan National Mine Park, the first mine-themed tourism park in Hunan Province, has been built.
After long-term management, it has achieved great results in ecological protection. The treatment rate of waste sewage in the county reaches 98.61%; the rate of harmless disposal of domestic wastes is 100%; the rate of good ambient air in urban areas is 98%, and the forest coverage rate and urban greening coverage rate in the county reaches 61.2% and 42.45% respectively. Chongling National Wetland Park, Sizhoushan National Rocky Desert Park were awarded “national forest county”.
Efforts made to improve people’s well-being
Yin Jianxuan, who lives in an old community, was full of praise when he saw the renovated community. The old community was built in the 1990s with old infrastructure and facilities in disrepair, so the residents had long looked forward to renovation.
“The renovation of old residential areas is closely related to people’s livelihood that can never be neglected,” The official of Guiyang County Department of Housing & Urban-Rural Development, said that to improve the services of old residential areas, the county started the old community renovation in urban areas in 2019. It has renovated 29 old communities involving 4,000 households from 210 buildings, with a construction area of 500,000 square meters, which benefited 13,000 odd people.
The renovation of old community is just part of the efforts Guiyang county has made to improve people’s livelihood. In recent years, the county has put people and people’s well-being first, and spared no efforts to realize people’s yearning for a better life.
