In recent years, Guiyang County has attached great importance to carry forward the revolutionary spirits and develop red industry with its rich red resources. 

Deng Sanxiong, Ouyang Hai and many other memorable historical figures emerged in Guiyang County, a crucial part of Hunan-Jiangxi Soviet Area, during the Great Revolution, Anti-Japanese War, Liberation War, socialist construction and other periods, leaving many revolutionary stories and sites.

In Guiyang County, the protection, development and utilization of the red cultural resources and the promotion of the red revolutionary spirit are taken as the main task of Party history education and civilization practice. More than 30 million yuan has been invested to build patriotism education bases like the former residence of Ouyang Hai, and restore protection projects such as Yangzheng School, the former site of Soviet government and former residence of Deng Sanxiong. Now, the red cultural tourism route and development pattern have been formed in Guiyang County.

“Party history is the best textbook and nutrition where you can learn firm faith, innovative spirit and strength, which will help you make your due contribution to the construction of the motherland,” Liu Jiuzheng, member of the CPC Guiyang County Standing Committee and director of Publicity Department at that time, put forward such expectations to primary and middle school students at a themed reading activity which also was a part of Guiyang’s red series activities.

Guiyang Education Foundation and Guiyang Education Bureau donated 13,300 Party history books to primary and middle schools in the county; the moving story of the Red Army was staged in the form of Hunan Drama; Ouyang Hai's deed was made into a patriotic film. The county fully excavates and protects the red resources in an innovative way and the red culture inheritance becomes the trend.

Based on the profound local culture and red resources, Guiyang County has focused on the development of red tourist attractions and the red tourism industry. Former residence of Ouyang Hai, the former site of the Soviet government and other red tourist attractions are opened to the public free of charge, attracting more and more visitors from inside and outside the county, to carry out party history education and study tours.

The daily reception capacity of red education bases in the county is more than 3,500 visitors. This year, the county has received a total of over more than 200,000 visitors in 270 batches.

By optimizing the supporting services of transportation, catering, accommodation, leisure and other aspects, we have increased the benefits and driving effects of red resources. At present, the county has developed 1 national 4A scenic spot, 2 national 3A scenic spots, 7 provincial five-star rural tourist attractions, 2 characteristic homestays. With patriotism education base as the core, comprehensive tourism is taking shape,” said Zhou Haiyan, standing deputy director of the Publicity Department of Guiyang County Party Committee.

Guiyang County will further take advantage of red resources and inherit revolutionary genes. Taking revolutionary sites and stories, former residences of heroes and celebrities as the carrier, Guiyang County integrates revolutionary tradition education with the development of tourism and draws a map of red tourism, to increase popularity of Guiyang’s red tourism and build Guiyang into a well-known red tourism resort inside and outside the province.
