On the morning of September 20th, when Hou Zhihui, the Olympic and the National Games champion from Chenzhou City, arrived at Chenzhou West Railway Station, the people of her hometown welcomed her in the warmest way.
Hou won the women's 49-kg weightlifting championship at this year's Tokyo Olympics, setting a new Olympic record with 94 kg snatch, 116 kg clean and jerk and a total score of 210 kg.
In the women's 49 kg weightlifting competition of the 2021 National Games held on September 16, she tied the world record with a snatch of 96 kg. The total result of 214 kg exceeded her own world record, which made her bag another gold medal.
After winning the gold medal, Hou said in an interview that she wanted to go back to her hometown and spend the Mid-Autumn Festival with her family. After learning about Hou’s thoughts, the Provincial Sports Bureau approved her to take an early vacation and go home for the holiday.
“I can’t remember how long I have been away from my hometown; I have been in training.” Excited at seeing the family members who she had been apart for a long time, Hou embraced them one by one. “When I came back this time, I found that my grandparents were getting old. They were less flexible in movements and their hearing was already declining”, speaking of her family, Hou was a little choked, “Wrinkles have climbed up on my parents’ face. I haven't been with my parents for too long and I want to spend more time with my family during the Mid-Autumn Festival”.
