Recently, as quality middle-season rice in Shigu Village’s “Branch Farm” enters harvest season, the village timely organized personnel and machines to harvest rice and sold it to rice drying factories nearby. After rice testing, weighing and settlement, the gain will become the collective income of the village.

 

The "Branch Farm", found in 2019, has a quality rice base of about 6.7 hectares, a sorghum base of about 9.3 hectares and a fishpond of 3 hectares.

 

 

“Thanks to the great support from relevant municipal units and Tangdong Sub-district, our village has set up a village economic cooperative, opened a branch farm to raise fish, sorghum and rice. The collective income increased by more than 100,000 yuan a year,” said Song Xiaogeng, Party secretary and director of the Shigu Village.

 

After the harvest of rice, it is time to harvest sorghum. The village signed an exclusive sales agreement to sell sorghum at the price of 3.6 yuan a kilogram.

 

 

In recent years, Tangdong Sub-district has vigorously supported mechanization, industrialization, large scale production, modernization in agriculture through policies and technical guidance, ensuring a good grain harvest and villagers’ income increase.
