In the golden autumn, Xiangjiangyuan Vegetable Base in Xiache Village, Jinping Town, Jiahe County, Chenzhou City sees a vibrant scene, where dozens of villagers are busy with the planting work. The villages learn about how to plant vegetables from experts. The Phase II greenhouse with an area of 150 mu (10 hectares) is being built beside the Phase I greenhouse with an area of 70 mu (4.6 hectares).
“The vegetables we mainly plant will ripen for pickup after 50 days at current temperature, with per hectare output up to 99.9 kg, and are mainly exported to Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. At present, the vegetable planting area has reached 800 mu (53 hectares), and the vegetables in 26-hectare land will be available for the market after about 20 days,” said Li Yonghui, general manager of Huasheng Agricultural Development Co., Ltd.
In 2020, Agriculture and Rural Bureau of Jiahe County and Party Committee and government of Jinping Town began to carve out their role in the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Vegetable Basket project. Therefore, Hunan Huasheng Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. was introduced to build Xiangjiangyuan Vegetable Base.
Given the local natural selenium-rich land resources, the company transferred land to plant vegetables, with the local Party branch, cooperatives and farmers all involved, in an effort to drive local villagers to get rich and strengthen the village collective economy, thus further promoting rural revitalization.
“At present, we have transferred over 80-hectare land in the village, with an annual land rent reaching nearly 350,000 yuan and the collective income of the village reaching over 80,000 yuan. Besides, the local villagers working for the project also earn a total of over 1 million yuan. We will put continuous efforts to build a demonstration village for rural revitalization,” said Zhan Jianhong, party branch sectary of the village.
