Rucheng awarded National Ecological Civilization Demonstration Zone

On October 14, the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP15) of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) opened in Kunming.
Six counties such as Rucheng County of Chenzhou City, Hecheng District of Huaihua City, etc. were rated as the fifth batch of National Ecological Civilization Construction Demonstration Zones in Hunan province. Liuyang City of Changsha city and Taohuayuan Tourism Management Area of Changde City won the title of "Clear Waters and Lush Mountains are Valuable Assets" Practice and Innovation Base, according to the Ministry of Ecological Environment.
In recent years, Hunan province has worked hard to promote the economic, political, social and cultural development with the improvement of ecological civilization. The local government has carved a harmonious development path toward sound ecological environment, advanced production and prosperous life.
In 2019, Zixing City was awarded the title of "Clear Waters and Lush Mountains are Valuable Assets" Practice and Innovation Base, which is the first county (city) in Hunan province to win this award. The city has made full use of the high-quality and abundant water resources of Dongjiang Lake which is used as a cooling source for heat dissipated from severs to create the most environmental-friendly and energy-saving data center in China, saving electricity consumption of 5 billion KWH and reducing carbon dioxide emissions of 1.65 million tons annually.
The demonstration area of ecological civilization has played an important role in improving regional ecological environment quality, promoting the reform of ecological civilization system and the construction of ecological economic system. Four regions were awarded "Clear Waters and Lush Mountains are Valuable Assets" Practice and Innovation Base and 26 counties (cities and districts) were selected as provincial demonstration counties (cities and districts) for ecological civilization construction.
