In recent days, villagers were busy sowing and fertilizing after rotary tilling and ridging machines ploughed the fields in Sijing Community of Sidu Town, Guidong County.
“This year harvesters are used to harvest rice, leaving relatively high stalks in the fields. To plant rape, those fields have to be ploughed again which would require about half a month by manual labour,” said He Yongjun, a rape grower in the community. But now, with the help of those machines, it is time-saving and effort-economical for farmers to better finish the grape planting as quickly as possible. He has full confidence that the yield this year will surpass that of last year.
Hu Haolin, branch secretary of Sijing Community, introduced that this year, Sijing Community of Sidu Town is designated as a trial base for mechanized ploughing, which not only expands the rape plating area in winter and enhances villagers’ enthusiasm, but also lays a foundation for the promotion of mechanized ploughing for the coming year.
The Department of Agricultural Machinery of Guidong County encourages farmers to adopt a new mode of mechanized agricultural farming and selects Sijing Community as a trial base where on-site training and demonstration are conducted to provide a model for promoting a fully mechanized agricultural production and improving productivity. Up to now, about 28.67 hectares of quality rape have been planted in Sijing Community.
