On both sides of the road, villagers pick flowering cabbage in the vegetable base, and loaders are busy transporting vegetables into cold storage warehouses. After 4 hours of pre-cooling, vegetables can be transported to Guangdong Province.

 

Walking on the asphalt road, Li Yonghui greeted the villagers and talked with technicians about the planning: "This industrial road has put at least more than 400 mu (about 26.7 hectares) of idle land into use. With this road, the time we use from picking to pre-cooling is reduced by at least two hours."

 

Li Yonghui is the general manager of Hunan Huasheng Agricultural Development Co., LTD., who invested money in the construction of the industrial road. The first phase of the construction was included in the industrial plan of the provincial department of transport in early June this year. The 1.7km-long and 6 meters-wide road was estimated to cost 2.73 million yuan, and the shortfall was 400,000 yuan.

 

 

"Building this road was what the whole village expected. As long as the villagers support it, I would do it. Thanks to villagers, the construction went smoothly and no one hindered the work. So, while others were still worrying about the high price of cement, I have built a road!" said Li Yonghui. The construction began in late August and was completed on October 29.

 

Li Yonghui, a retired solider, shows his decisive style in the work. He once served as a village director and two-term village party secretary, but he didn't know anything about planting vegetables.

 

After thorough investigation, Li borrowed his friend's mature production mode and sales channels to establish a modern vegetable base in the village in one year.

 

 

The completion of the industrial road gives him full confidence. He hoped that with the support of the Party Committee and the government, the industrial road would be further extended to promote the formation of a demonstration belt for modern agricultural and tourism industry with Zhongshui River as the link.
