This year, the cooperative was introduced in Huaicun Village, Zhaiqian Town to transfer 23.33 hectares of land to plant characteristic agricultural products such as sweet potatoes and sweet corn. 

 

“This kind of sweet potato is a new variety introduced by the cooperative, with a yield of 2,000 kg per mu (about 666.67 square meters) and good taste and high quality. It’s a best-seller in Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Foshan cities of Guangdong province,” Guo Huihong, head of the cooperative, said happily when talking about the new sweet potato. 

 

“Now, it’s the harvest season for sweet potatoes. More than 30 villagers are hired to harvest them every day, with an increase of more than 2,500 yuan per capita every month,” said Chen Jiandong, village secretary of Huaicun Village. 

 

This year, Zhaiqian Town introduced multiple excellent planting and breeding cooperatives and further deepened the development mode of “government, cooperative, e-commerce, base and farmers”, in an effort to help increase employment opportunities and income for villagers. It indirectly drove more than 6,000 people to get employed and increased per capita income by more than 20,000 yuan.
